A complete and stylish routine made for beginners and fun to watch.Apr 23, 2008
By Jerry This DVD features a dance preface and epilogue by the tap-master, Honi Coles. That alone gives this instructional DVD a unique value.
Mr. Coles dances the actual routine being taught. Beginning with a solo preface, he is later joined in the epilogue by the talented student-dancer, Cory Beychok.
Instruction by Mr. Tang is very clear and nicely paced, you don't feel rushed. The photography, set, and sound are superb. The musical pace is pleasant and comfortable.
A beginner will find this DVD ideal. It's also fun viewing for anyone who enjoys tap. Building on steps being learned, the result is a coherent and stylish routine. I recommend this excellent DVD.
Another Tap DVD that I highly recommend is "I Hate to Exercise, I Love to Tap" by Bonnie Frankin. Bonny's DVD is just as professional and vibrant as "Tap Dancing for Beginners." Bonnie takes you through basic floor exercises starting with a chair (for balance) and ends up teaching you routines in various styles. This is a can't miss! I'd get the DVD as it is also in VHS.

Okay introductory routineSep 03, 2010
By Roberta Moore This is essentially a tap routine, demonstrated bit by bit, which covers a lot of basic steps. If you use it, you would probably benefit from knowing the basic steps already or having a reference which explains them. The demo is about a half-hour long. It's okay, but I like Bonnie Franklin's "I Hate to Exercise, I Love to Tap!" better. It explains basic steps more, instead of just demonstrating them, and has several routines to offer.
I should mention my background; I have had not previous exposure to tap, and I'm trying to pick up the basics because I just joined a tap group at my local senior center. I found this DVD moderately helpful, but Bonnie Franklin's was very helpful.
You of course may find this just your cup of tea depending on your needs. It IS a cute routine.
