Highly acclaimed choreographer Oscar Araiz (known for his work with the Joffrey Ballet and The National Ballet of Canada), uses Tango music, rhythms and movements to create 12 vignettes that are seductive, exciting and entertaining. Performed with undeniable flair and precision by some of the finest dancers in Europe, this DVD showcases one of South America's most influential and celebrated cultural accomplishments.

After its birth along the docks and in the slums of Buenos Aires, the Tango reached the height of international popularity between the first and second World Wars. The myths of its origins brings together European immigrants with the men of the ports (portenos) and the gauchos, blending the Andalusian Tango with the Cuban Habanera, while borrowing the musical syncopation of the Milonga and the rhythms of the African Candombe beat imported by slaves.
