You'll have a great time, it's like being right there!May 12, 2007 Mel Torme was one of the mid-twentieth century crooners who made jazz his mantra. In this wonderful DVD of a 1989 performance in Philadelphia, Torme exhibits is talents in Broadway show medleys, jazz standards, ballads, and more. You'll love every minute. You'll wish you had been there. We're lucky to have this DVD to savor one of America's true musical talents. Thanks, Mel, we all miss you.

Always a Great Experience to Watch Tormé in Action!Jan 04, 2007 A show to celebrate the American Song, with a creative Frank Loesser medley, from the composer's 'Guys and Dolls' and a full of energy revival of big band repertoire.
Superb command as a vocalist in action along with a superb command of the big band behind him - ooh it is fantastic to watch Mel Tormé on stage.
Features Tormé's long time drummer, Mr. Donny Osborne. It is also sensational when Tormé himself sits at the drums and plays a hommage to Gene Krupa. Great!
I must agree the sound quality is not that top one; it is not even the best Mel Tormé ever; however it is Mel Tormé, dig it?

Mel Tormé At His BestJan 03, 2007 I am watching the DVD as I write this. I love Mel Tormé. His performance on this DVD gives a good sampling of all his talents. His personality and humor come through. Consumate musician that he was, he directs the orchestra as he performs. I took away one star because the video quality is good, but not great. You know what? I don't care. There are plenty of closeups, angle shots, etc. Any serious fan of Mel Tormé should have this DVD in his/her collection.

One Horrible RecordingMay 25, 2006 I love Mel Torme but this is one bad recording. No Dolby sound processing and the PCM stereo recoding is one the worst I'v heard on a DVD. Great selection of songs but it's all a waste.

Competent, Likeable Concert TapeAug 19, 2005 Excellent quality recording with good sound and video. This is a complete concert with no interruptions for interviews or background videos. Mel sings an interesting mix of jazz and Broadway. As always, his voice and singing are a marvel.
