Little People's Very Annoying BalletJan 07, 2001
This video was the most ridiculous attempt to teach young children ballet. My 3 year old, who LOVES to dance, was quickly bored after the first 5 minutes. "Miss Anita" would benefit from focusing less on herself and more on the dances and the children. Her babytalk was unnecessary and frankly annoying. I don't know any 3 year olds who talk like that, and I am truly disappointed that a "so called" ballet teacher would. We will be selling this video at our next yard sale.

We disliked it intenselyDec 14, 2000
I'm sorry, I think this is by far the worst video I've ever purchased. There was very little for my daughter to learn. Most of the time is spent focusing on a rather overweight and obnoxious 'Miss Anita' who seemed to want to make the most of her 15 minutes of 'fame'. My favorite part is where the children in her video suddenly vanish and she appears in an outfit more appropriate for a Halloween party than ballet. Middle age at it's worst takes over as she trots around. The emphasis in this video is on this Miss Anita and not the children - meaning not the ones in the video nor your child watching it. I had to roll my eyes where the stuffed bunny says how wonderful Miss Anita is. Give me a BREAK. It's all so transparent. I felt sorry for whomever had the displeasure of filming this piece of work. My 3 year old could do everything it 'teaches' the first run through and was quickly bored. Listening to the grating 'baby talk' voice of Miss Anita over and over was enough to prompt me to throw it in the trash. There just MUST be a better ballet video out there than this.

2 yr old loves it, Adults will hate itApr 15, 2002
I cringe every time my daughter reaches for this tape, I think it will kill me to see it again, but my nearly 3 year old daughter, who does not take ballet lessons, absolutely loves it. She watches it about twice a day if I let her. Yes the instructor is so annoying (bouncy, flighty, babyish) and self-centered but kids may like her. (If you think the 'Baby Einstein' woman is annoying, you haven't seen anything yet). But the 5 little girls in the 'class' are so adorable. The video starts with a warm up to common songs like Shake Your Sillies Out and Where is Thumpkin. Then we see the five positions and then the girls dance together and individually, always to music. The sequences are divided by the brief appearance of a ridiculous stuffed rabbit in a tutu that I don't understand at all except maybe it helps hold some kids attention or just to serve as a transition. (Again, sort of Baby Einstein style.) For a very young child just getting into ballet, this is a fun introduction.

there is no way to express how annoying this dvd isFeb 24, 2004
By Michelle I picked up this DVD thinking it would help my daughter (who is 2) learn some new movements, and body awareness. I was instead, horrified at the host of this DVD who is probably clinically insane. she speaks in a horrifically high pitched sing-song voice - it is like nails on a chalkboard! this is so dumbed down, I don't even want my daugher listening to it. I am sorry to report that I cannot give an opinion on whether it is a good instructional video - I cannot get past the voice and mannerisms of the host, nor the fact that her skin is a bizarre shade of orange. there is even a segment where this stuffed rabbit which "talks" in Anita's voice gushes about how "wonderful" Miss Anita is. you have not experienced Hell until you've heard this woman sing "point, flex, BUUUNNY EARS!!" 3 or 4 dozen times in a row.it is really awful! instead, I recommend "Yoga For The Kid in All of Us". it is a little annoying from an adult viewpoint, but not dumbed down and teaches body awareness very well.

Alex DeLarge had it easy compared to viddying thisMar 27, 2004
By Adam Smith Watch it and try not to retch. I couldn't. It's not about ballet, or even pre-ballet, it's about Anita La Grassa feeling good about herself, and undeservedly so. The segue where she praises herself through the use of a rabbit puppet pretty much speaks for itself. The children are there throughout, though primarily as foils whose collective clumsiness serves to emphasize the perfection that is Miss Anita. If a gateway to hell were to open for just a few seconds, this would make my short list of things to cast back from whence it came. Naturally, my toddler loved this video, and she still makes reference to the tutu-clad rabbit a month after we sent this video back. Let that be a lesson to all: you can try to return it, but it will always haunt you!
