June Nolen author of "In Reverse Time"Aug 03, 2008

"June Nolen author of In Reverse Time."
I wasn't sure what to expect but I loved Burn The Floor. This production is definitely more Latin. The dancing and staging is superb. I've been out of dance for a long time but the stamina these young kids have is unbelievable. They never missed a beat. There was some Swing and other Ballroom in between the Latin. But all in all I loved it. I also loved the CD of Burn The Floor but this music wasn't as memorable to me. Maybe that's showing my age. But the energy of these young dancers lit up the stage! Great job!!

Great mix of stylesOct 11, 2009

I was cruising through youtube looking for Magalehna and came across the original Burn the Floor. I immediately ordered the DVD, but was disappointed. Not enough ballroom; more like the old movie musical dancing. I like that kind of dancing, but when you see the Magalehna Samba, you'll see why I was disappointed that there was not more of the same. It was good, just not to my taste.
Then I saw that Pasha and Anya (SYTYCD) were replacing Maks and Karina (DWTS) in a new production called "Floor Play." I immediately looked it up and saw that Jason Gilkison (SYTYCD Au)was the choreographer. That sold me and I ordered the DVD. I knew it was produced too soon for Pasha and Anya to be appearing, but it didn't matter. Maks and Karina aren't in this version, either.
Thankfully, the Magalehna Samba is included in this DVD, along with a Rumba that will melt your socks off, "Sing, Sing, Sing" and "It Don't Mean a Thing if You Ain't Got that Swing," "Harlem Nocturne," one of Gilkison's wonderful Paso Dobles, and some more modern dances such as "Proud Mary" and "Turn the Beat Around."
Once the dancing gets started, the energy and sizzle doesn't stop for a second, even in the slower routines. You get a feeling of power under control.
I particularly enjoyed the clips of Jason's grandfather and parents during their competition days, as well as Jason and Peta (and her parents) competing.
This is a must have for any dance lover's library. I'm watching it now and I'm smiling.

Hotter than the firstAug 16, 2008

While I have to admit that I lean more to the smooth dances, this had some very hot rhythm numbers. Not as many waltz and foxtrots as the first Burn the Floor, still will keep you entertained. First class dancers and great photography.

Amazing, pure dancing!Aug 06, 2008

I believe this is the sequel to the original burn the floor that came out 9 years ago, but this production is 50 times better than the original. The dancing in this is so pure and honest, and not gimmicky like the original. These are some of the greatest dancers I have ever seen, you won't need to be a dancer or a even know much about dancing to enjoy this DVD. The choreography is done by Jason Gilkison, the ballroom choreographer on the Australian " So You Think You Can Dance?" reality TV-show, so you can't go wrong--the guy's a genius! Aside from great dancing, there's alot of eye candy dancing around onstage, hot guys and girls. I wasn't disappointed.

WOW!!!!Oct 25, 2008
By The McMurrough I loved the original Burn The Floor, and thought this would be more of a continuation, or at least similiar. That it is not!!! The first viewing left me feeling disappointed. But then I watched it again, trying to not compare it to the original. Then I loved it, and now I watch it all the time.
The dancing and dancers are incredible and sexy without being vulgar. My personal favorite segment is #7 - Fire In The Ballroom and the Proud Mary bit is awesome.
The costumes were wonderful except at the end when the guys were wearing those ugly jeans.
My only complaint is that woman who sings. I found it very unpleasant to listen to, and the male singer wasn't much better. But the band was great.
